University of Southern Indiana Griffin Center

University Of Southern Indiana Griffin Center

Product details

The conference center at University of Indiana is a versatile venue designed for conferences, meetings, and community events. Located along the wooded edge of Reflection Lake, Griffin Center offers stunning views of the university’s campus through its expansive floor-to-ceiling windows.

The spacious atrium and Grand Hall,  which seats up to 150 people, feature Tipo chairs from Aichi. Designed by Taku Kumazawa, these high-density, multipurpose mesh stacking lightweight chairs, can stack up to 40 high, and are made entirely from recycled materials, making them ideal for educational settings.

The elegant, two-level structure combines glass, stone, and highly insulated concrete to blur the distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces, subtly shifting the viewer's focus from the building to the campus. The color white highlighted the contrast between the architecture and nature, while also allowing the building to serve as a canvas for contemporary art.
