Noblis Offices – Reston
Noblis Offices – Reston
SmithGroupJJR designed the offices of non-profit science organization Noblis, located in Reston, Virginia. This non-profit science, technology and strategy organization came to SmithGroupJJR to design a new headquarters for its staff of 450 (and growing) that would be significantly smaller than the one it currently occupied. It sought a modern workplace that would be agile and efficient, with specialty facilities like an innovation center, research labs, demonstration space and a 200-seat auditorium. The new facility reduces the Noblis Headquarters from 253,000 to 160,000 square feet, yet provides a more activity-based workplace with collaborative spaces that support the organization’s needs.
A typical floor is divided into neighborhoods, where shared pathways lead to different styles of huddle rooms, two sizes of conference rooms, workstations, whiteboard areas and other breakout spaces with soft seatings from Bernhardt Design. The circulation patterns and strategically placed community hubs encourage movement, choice and interaction. The 20,000-square-foot Noblis Innovation & Collaboration Center serves as a demonstration space for clients and the public, the centerpiece of a new headquarters that reflects this forward-thinking organization.
