We were intending to launch our new KE-ZU blog series Furniture for Thought at Blogsphere 2014 - the World Blogging Festival in Cannes this year. To our disappointment when we turned up at the venue, we were shocked to find it was a small shop on the boardwalk, selling You Cannes Touch This T-shirts to desperate Japanese tourists. The owner...
Launched at the Milan Furniture earlier this year, this collections features sofas, lounge chairs, dining tables and chairs, benches, barstools and even an acoustic dome designed to bring privacy to open spaces. See the full Sancal collection here or better yet pop by the KE-ZU showroom where many of these new pieces are now on display!
The Nido Armchair designed by Rafa Garcia for Sancal. Nido, Spanish for nest, means home to a number of species and inspired Rafa García to create this small armchair. Just as before, chess pieces have continued to be the inspiration for the new designs. Ionna has also incorporated another colour to add to the mustard, olive, peach and sky blue colours already in production: shadow...
Nudo Bench designed by Juan Ibáñez for Sancal. The name of the collection, Nudo, refers to the knots found in wood in its natural state. The legs replicate the sinews of a tree-trunk, as if they were branches, thanks to painstaking lathing and carving. This is one of the Nudo tables’ most characteristic features. Asymmetry is another hallmark. The asymmetry...

Just as two halves of clam-shaped wood are clapped together with a castanet, the armchair’s curved metal structure is made of two elements...
