EMU got us excited with its new outdoor furniture collections presented in Milan this year. With temperatures warming up, here’s a preview of two of our new favourites that are perfect for life outdoors.

Carousel 

Designed by Sebastian Herkner, Carousel has handcrafted appeal yet is made from industrial, weather-resistant materials to endure outdoor conditions.

The Carousel collection comprises a series of dining armchairs, a lounge armchair and a small sofa. The seating has a snug, all-encompassing shell that recalls the woven construction of natural materials, such as wicker or rattan. However, the aluminium is durable and robust, and the cushions, made with polyester fibre fabric Fiberfill are water-repellent. Carousel is available in a variety of colours and combinations, and is suitable for outdoor use in residential, hospitality and workplace projects.

Rio R50

Rio R50 is a perfect balance between comfort and aesthetics with a solid tubular frame and transparent wire-mesh seat.

Designed by Emanuel Gargano and Anton Cristell, Rio R50 is an evolution and commemorative re-edition of EMU’s Rio, which will celebrate 50 years in 2020. EMU will present it at I-MADE (Italian Manufacture Art & Design Exhibition) at Saatchi Gallery during the London Design Festival in September 2020.

The Rio R50 collection consists of dining chairs, lounge chair, stool and coffee table. The steel tubular frame gives the collection sturdiness and stability, while the wire mesh seat gently folds to the curves of the body for ergonomic comfort. The structural weldings are highly resistant to stress and rust, and nylon feet make the pieces easy to move and protect the product and flooring.
