We're fortunate to work with some of the words most innovative and charismatic brands including the amazing Sancal. Santiago Castaño, a creative idealist, founded Sancal in 1973 in Yecla, an industrial town in the winemaking region of eastern Spain. With a commitment to tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and technology, the team at Sancal have continued to apply creativity and idealism to the design and production of furniture for more than 40 years. The REW collection designed by Rafa Garcia is named for its versatility, REW being an acronym for Rest Eat Work. The range of seating that includes chairs, sofas, and modules has the option of high or low backs and sides for resting, eating or working – or all of the above. REW sofas and modules feature in the Ovolo Woolloomooloo, the vibrant new hotel on Sydney’s Finger Wharf designed by HASSELL, where they offer good looks and adaptability fitting with the varied environment of the hotel lobby. Sancal’s Nido chair is also at home in the lobby and its relaxed cushioned upholstery provides comfortable seating in the warm and welcoming lounge areas. Tonella, designed by Stockholm-based Note Design Studio, is a reinterpretation of a Sancal classic. Its cage-like, horseshoe-shaped frame references Yecla wine barrels and the quilted upholstery mimics the vertical supports of the base. [caption id="attachment_12378" align="aligncenter" width="1000"] Sancal Tonella Chair[/caption] Studio Nadadora designed the Tortuga Lounge Chair inspired by the stately pace and longevity of the tortoise, and its bucket-like form is calming and immersive, intended to slow the pace of life. The Obi Sofa meets a number of modern-day needs and serves as a sofa, day bed and guest bed. It has comfortable cushioning and quilted upholstery that is inviting and practical, and its elegant slim-line legs are available in ash wood or transparent acrylic. Bi-combination upholstery provides the opportunity for designers and consumers to play with colour and texture and the option of hexagonal quilting on the seat and back. Subtle, sophisticated and serene, the Tiptoe collection is a range of modular seating with clean lines, low-lying horizontal forms, and copper or anthracite legs.
