The design industry is a fast evolving and ever-changing one, an industry that relies on both creativity, technology and is weighted heavily on opinion – staying abreast of information and product can be near impossible. Never fear, designEX is here!
designEX is Australia’s longest running trade only event for our industry and 2014 sees it move to a new location: the Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island. designEx runs from 28 - 30 May and entrance is free - you must register first here. With a full schedule, designEX have been busy preparing the best show for the 10,000 industry professionals who attend each year. Expect to see the best in contemporary design from over 300 leading brands, see some exciting installation projects, learn about local sustainability, trends from Salone Milano and be informed by the 2014 inspiration speaker series.

The entrance hall as rendered by Studio Design UK & The Connection[/caption] Innovative and fresh product aside, designEX is jam packed with a range of design related areas and activities to appreciate, learn and work. It’s all about the experience this year. See design features such as a new entrance hall conceptualized from the DesignEx logo by Studio Design UK, a series of styled meeting rooms (furnished by KE-ZU) called The Connection which hosts handy and private meeting rooms to get down to business (complete with concierge and refreshments!), Workopolis by futurespace is a 60m2 area which envisages the way that we’ll work in the future through a series of vignettes and the returning Greenroom which features Green magazine's favourite products from local designers and tells their story of sustainability. Profile & promotional image for the topic Embryonic Architecture: The dawning of a new age[/caption] The 2014 Speaker Series is pumped up this year with a host of local and international guests speaking on a range of topics in various formats aimed at “discovering new trends and insights through workshops and keynotes”. designEX tells us that its Speaker Series will "add value to Australian architects and designers" providing "learning outcomes that support you and your practices. Giving you tools to work more efficiently, keep up to date with industry standards and be progressive in your approach”. Receiving top billing and one not to be missed this year is trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort, one of the world’s best known and highly respected trend forecasters and writers. There are too many talented people speaking on interesting topics this year and simply too much to list, so get a copy of the full schedule here. You can find all the information you need over at designEX, but to add a cherry on top, don’t forget we’ll be there! See KE-ZU's partner Yellowtrace's conceptualised drawings and some of the product we’ll be showing at designEX here!
