New from De La Espada | Neri&Hu! ...

The Neri&Hu collection for De La Esapda became available in Australia for the first time late last year.  Available exclusively in Australia through KE-ZU, this collection of furniture represents a new aesthetic that is born from a cultural provocation; with Neri&Hu seeking to expand the scope of Chinese design.  This is heavily based on a mantra of expert craftsmanship, with the product portfolio supported by De La Espada’s manufacturing expertise. We’ve ordered many pieces from this incredible collection and they are due to land on our shores for their Australian debut early this month. The collection will be available for viewing in the KE-ZU Sydney showroom shortly thereafter!  We promise to keep you informed of the date closer to the time. De La Espada chose Maison & Objet Paris to launch the latest additions to the Neri&Hu collection.   Following the successful first-release in New York last year, the flourishing designers have expanded on their collection adding a large amount of new product to complete their range for both residential and contract purposes such as a sofa, bedding, cabinetry, stools and lighting. [caption id="attachment_8353" align="aligncenter" width="600"] The Solo Sofa[/caption] [caption id="attachment_8354" align="aligncenter" width="600"] The Solo lounge chair and ottoman[/caption] [caption id="attachment_8350" align="aligncenter" width="600"] The Solo Bench[/caption] The Solo Sofa is one of three new designs to join the Solo family along with the bench and ottoman (which accompanies both the Solo lounge and sofa). They’re a sophisticated design with an upholstered shell set upon solid American black walnut, white oak or European ash wood legs. [caption id="attachment_8355" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Trio Coffee Table[/caption] [caption id="attachment_8356" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Trio Side Table[/caption] The Trio series is a tectonic exploration where the composition of the table legs is the design focal point. The tables stand on three legs, with each leg attached to another leg with an intermediate horizontal substructure. Allowing the collection to show its true diversity and propel it into a wider audience is the introduction of new materials; the tabletop is now available in a choice of marble (for the coffee table) and brass or copper (for the side table). [caption id="attachment_8358" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Trunk Low Cabinet[/caption] [caption id="attachment_8361" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Trunk Low Cabinet[/caption] [caption id="attachment_8362" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Trunk Tall Cabinet[/caption] Referencing luxurious travel of the past, the new Trunk family by Neri&Hu comprises two pieces, both a tall and a low cabinet. Trunk is a utilitarian design in stunning, luxurious materials comprisng a lacquer body, a brass frame and a hand-polished mirror that functionally opens via a concealed pull on the doors to reveal either three drawers (for the tall) or compartments (in the low) all manufactured in premium solid hardwood. Three new families, each having just one signature piece were added to the Neri&Hu collection for De La Espada, see the Lianou Table, Zhuzi stool and Lattice Light below. [caption id="attachment_8363" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Lianou Table[/caption] Lianou Table is an abstracted representation of a commonly found material in China; the lotus root (lian ou). Made of fiberglass with a white or black lacquer, Lianou is sized for versatility and can also be used as an occasional or end table. [caption id="attachment_8364" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Zhuzi Stool/Table[/caption] [caption id="attachment_8345" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Lianou & Zhuzi[/caption] [caption id="attachment_8365" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Zhuzi - Image courtesy TL Magazine[/caption] Much like the Lianou table, Zhuzi stool is based on the bamboo (zhu zi), another product utilized heavily in China. Constructed of fiberglass with a white or black lacquer, the Zhuzi stool blends both functionality and beauty. [caption id="attachment_8344" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Lattice Suspension Light[/caption] A striking new addition to the Neri&Hu collection is Lattice, a pendant light created by the Neri&Hu studio. The dynamic suspension is created from brushed brass and blown glass (a bit of a mouthful, yes).   Full details of the light haven’t been released yet and it is slated for a Spring release.
