As the door slams shut on Milan, across the pond the Americans are in the thick of preparations for the upcoming International Contemporary Furniture Fair. Taking place from May 13th until the 17th there are all the usual goings on that:
will map the newest frontier of what’s best and what’s next in design...[caption id="attachment_2295" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Cofa Collection by Phillip Grass"][/caption] Equally as exciting are the "off program" exhibitions and gatherings that run concurrently to the main event, maximising the presence of International buyers, investors and manufacturers. One such venture in its third year is Model Citizens NYC:
Part exhibit part trade show, Model Citizens NYC provides an opportunity for independent and emerging designers to have access to the ICFF and New York Design Week...[caption id="attachment_2294" align="aligncenter" width="600" caption="Fruit Play by '0 to 1'"][/caption] Staged at the Chelsea Art Museum, the break-away exhibition has all the exuberance and free thinking of creativity not bound by commercial restraint - well worth a look if you find yourself in New York City this May.
