Last night at Sun Studios, Sydney; the Inaugural EVOLVE AWARDS competition run by Designer Rugs for creative professionals to design a signature rug collection, was wrapped up and the winner of a trip to Milan was announced.
After months and months of workshops across Australia and New Zealand the final entry count was a staggering 850 individual designs!
Not surprisingly the judging panel (consisting of Designers Matthew Sheargold, Stephen Ormandy, Shareen Joel and Sibella Court) couldn't come to a clear conclusion on one winner so... two first prizes were awarded!
Congratulations goes firstly to Lachlan Allen a 2009 graduate of Interior Architecture at UNSW and currently working for Group GSA for his design "Dusk" and no less deserving of tied first place was Gavin Harris of Futurespace, for his creation titled "Squiggle It".
All top 6 finalists who include Louise McGregor and Edward Wong, will also have their rugs manufactured and marketed through Designer Rugs' new I.D. Collection.
